In my own time: Nature Repetition..............

Here are a few photographs which I took, on nature repetition. I love the shape patterns of the rose and the use of colour on the tree logs.

Plant Repetition.....

Here are a few photographs on plant repetition which I found on the internet. I particularly found the use of shapes and colour bold and exciting. I think i'll be able to incorporate some of these shapes and patterns using paper.

In my own time: Session 2..............

Here is another paper sculpture i created in my own time. I wanted to experiment a bit more on angles and reflections. I started by creating one sculpture but then I attempted another one. So I then combined the two together in order to create a symmetrical sculpture.

I simply had a sheet of A5 white paper and using a scalpel I made slits on the page, as shown above. And i then scoring the centre of the page allowed me to bend the page.

My first attempt on this particular paper sculpture, inspired by the designer Richard Sweeney.

I then made two versions of the sculpture and then glued then together.

EDITING....

After looking back at these photographs of this sculpture i found i wasn't particularly happy with how the both ends joined. Because i think it it goes too high up and i wanted the sculpture to flow. So i edited the sculpture by cutting off a slight bit of what joins the sculpture together.

Here are my Final Designs.....

Origami

These are a few examples of Origami, which I found particularly interesting.

This is an vert detailed piece of origami, which has been beautifully created. I especially love the use of photography, because the reflection gives a great effective.

I want to learn how to make a flower origami, so i can create a similar piece of origami like the one shown above. I like the uses of colours because its quite bold and exciting.

Yulia Brodskaya

Yulia Brodskaya was born in Russia (Moscow), she was interested in diverse creative practices ranging from Textile Painting, Origami and Collage to more traditional Fine Art practices. she continues to experiment and explore ways of bringing together all the things she likes most: typography, paper, and highly detailed hand-made craft objects. She has swiftly earned an international reputation for her innovative paper illustrations and continues to create beautifully detailed paper designs for clients all around the world.

This illustrator is really amazing. i love the use of colour, and how she works the paper, creating all different shapes. Her use of typography is also one thing I love about her work. it's beautifully made and it looks very effective.

Louise Campbell

Louise Campbell was born in Copenhagen in 1970. After graduating from the London College of Furniture in 1992, she returned to Denmark and continued her studies in Industrial Design at Denmarks Design School, graduating from here in 1995. She set up her own studio in 1996, from where she has worked independently since. Focus is on furniture and lighting design, but the studio is increasingly involved in product design and interior design projects as well.

I think her work shows a good use of repetition. And i'll try to incorporate her style of work, into my own. I find the use of patterns very interesting and effective. Especially in the photographs, because the use of lighting gives a great reflection.

Lazy greedy chair

The house spider prefers to hang out in corners.
Here it constructs its web, which exists to catch prey – for survival.
The spider itself, however, prefers to curl up in a silk funnel at the rear of the web nearest the corner.
The funnel is the spiders retreat.

Relief
Low lounge chair made by repeating single slice of laser cut aluminium.

An experiment with repetition. Designed for an SE exhibition. Inspired by small silver bowl in the collection at the Museum of Applied Arts in Copenhagen
