London Repetition

These are a few photographs which I took, in my week in London. I thought i'll use these photographs to look into different patterns and repetitions of building structures.

Richard Sweeney

Richard Sweeney.... Any form imaginable can be rendered through drawing, but when modelling in paper, an object has to be physically shaped. When faced with a flat sheet of material, there is no obvious indication of how it can be manipulated into a three dimensional object. The limitations of paper as a form making material offer a challenge, which through playful investigation results in tangible models.

This work of Richard Sweeney demonstrates the development of form through the making of paper models. Combining repetitive geometry, curved lines, and modularity, it was found that paper could be folded into a vast number of shape

I think his work is pure genius. It's looks so complex but really its simple shapes multiplied, to create an amazing sculpture.

In my own time: Session 1..........

This is a paper sculpture which i created in my own time. Basically i wanted to experiment a bit more. using paper in different shapes and forms. I simply cut lines landscape on a piece of A3 paper, where i then soared the centre to create a bend when twisting the sculpture together.

I really like how the camera has focused more on the inside of the sculpture. Because it shows another angle of the sculpture.

The use of lighting had created a very nice shadow from the sculpture.

My 2nd Workshop Session with Richard Sweeney

In this workshop session, I focused more on sharp edges and diamond shapes. I did find folding in these shapes quite difficult however I didn't want to give up because I wanted to learn this technique of folding.

I really like the use of lighting in this photograph of my sculpture. I think it makes a simple sculpture look interesting.

This my final piece from that sculpture. I made 2 similar paper sculptures and combined them together using a glue stick. I think the lighting makes the sculpture much more interesting and effective.

More wavesssss

I found some more repetitions, in the form of waves. Such Desert sand dunes and Rocks.

With the technique of soaring i believe i could create some really interesting pieces of paper sculpturing.

Rocks......

Shells Repetition

I've started looking at Natural forms, for example Shells. I believe there a good source of repetition, because the spirals pattens can be replicated using paper.

I think this design would be really interesting to incorporate into my own work. As the simple circles can be look really effective.

Wavesssssss

I've been observing the way Waves are formed. I think a lot of paper sculpturing consists of twisting and curving paper.  Here are a few examples of the images i've been looking at and which i found really interesting....

I really like this image of waves. Because i like the contrast of dark to light, which might look good when i do my own sculpturing using paper and the use of lighting.

PRIMARY RESEARCH...................

These are photographs are waves, which i took....

I really like the contrast of colours and the different movement of waves.
